This Privacy Policy explains how Debtera ("Debtera", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Debtera mobile application and related services.
1. Personal Data we collect
Personal Data You Provide
We collect Personal Data if you create an account, use Debtera, enter information into the app, or communicate with us.
- Account Information: such as your user ID, username, email address, authentication status, subscription status, and account preferences.
- Profile Information: such as your name, country, financial goals, profile preferences, currency, and theme choices.
- Debt and Repayment Information: such as debt names, debt amounts, creditor names, interest rates, minimum payments, target repayment dates, debt groups, colors, icons, pinned debt status, cleared debt status, payment amounts, and payment dates.
- Settings and Security Preferences: such as haptics, notification preferences, daily reminder preferences, PIN enabled status, and biometrics enabled status.
- Communication Information: such as your name, contact details, and message contents if you contact us for support or privacy requests.
Personal Data We Receive from Your Use of Debtera
When you use Debtera, we may receive information about your activity and device so the app can operate, sync, stay secure, and improve over time.
- Usage Data: such as app opens, screen views, onboarding completion, debt creation, repayment logging, premium screen views, milestones earned, streaks, last active date, and error events.
- Device and Technical Information: such as limited device, operating system, app version, crash, diagnostic, and performance information received from service providers.
- Local Device Information: PIN-related data is stored locally using secure device storage where supported. Biometric unlock uses your device biometric system, and Debtera does not receive or store your fingerprint, face scan, or biometric template.
Information We Receive from Other Sources
We may receive limited information from service providers that help us operate Debtera.
- Supabase may provide authentication, database, and cloud sync information.
- Firebase may provide analytics, crash, and diagnostic information.
- RevenueCat and app store billing providers may provide subscription status, purchase status, and related billing information. Debtera does not store full payment card details.
2. How we use Personal Data
We use Personal Data for the following purposes:
- To create, authenticate, and manage user accounts.
- To let users sign in by email or username.
- To store and sync debts, payments, profile settings, app settings, subscription state, and progress data.
- To show repayment progress, milestones, streaks, goals, and debt status.
- To personalize Debtera, including currency, country, theme, notifications, and security settings.
- To provide guest mode and account-backed cloud sync after sign-in.
- To send local reminder notifications when enabled.
- To support premium features and subscription status.
- To understand app usage, improve the product, and develop new features.
- To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes, sync issues, and other errors.
- To protect user accounts, app data, and Debtera services.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. Disclosure of Personal Data
We do not sell your Personal Data. We may disclose Personal Data in the following circumstances:
- Vendors and Service Providers: including Supabase for authentication, database hosting, and cloud sync; Firebase or Google services for analytics and crash reporting; RevenueCat and app store billing providers for subscription management; and hosting, infrastructure, support, or operational providers where needed.
- Business Transfers: if Debtera is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.
- Legal, Safety, and Security Reasons: if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent fraud or abuse, to enforce our terms, or to respond to lawful requests.
4. Retention
We retain Personal Data only for as long as needed to provide Debtera, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect the service, and support legitimate business purposes.
Information we retain until you delete it
Some information, such as account-backed debts, payments, settings, profile data, and progress records, may be retained until you delete the information or delete your account where deletion tools are available.
Information stored locally
Some preferences, cached app data, profile data, PIN-related data, and security settings may be stored on your device. Uninstalling the app, clearing app storage, or using guest mode may affect access to local data.
Information we may retain for longer
We may retain limited records for longer where required by law, security, fraud prevention, backup, accounting, dispute resolution, or legitimate operational purposes.
5. Data controls
Debtera provides controls over certain Personal Data and app settings, including:
- You can use Debtera as a guest where supported.
- You can update profile and app settings such as currency, country, theme, notification preferences, and security preferences.
- You can enable or disable local PIN lock and biometric unlock where supported.
- You can turn reminders and notifications on or off.
- You can export certain repayment records where export features are available.
- You can delete your account where account deletion is available.
- You can contact us to make a privacy request.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights in relation to your Personal Data, including the right to:
- Access Personal Data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate Personal Data.
- Delete Personal Data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Request a copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Children
Debtera is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required by applicable law in the user's jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you believe a child has provided Personal Data to Debtera, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect Personal Data, including account authentication through Supabase, row-level security rules in Supabase database tables, secure local storage for PIN-related data where supported, device biometric APIs for biometric unlock, and crash and error monitoring.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you should take care when deciding what information to enter into Debtera.
9. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process Personal Data based on:
- Contract: to provide the app, account, cloud sync, subscription access, and core functionality.
- Consent: for optional features such as notifications or certain analytics or marketing choices where required.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, improve, debug, and understand Debtera.
- Legal obligations: where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests.
10. Data transfers
Our service providers may process Personal Data in countries other than your own. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Financial information and advice
Debtera lets you enter debt and repayment information. This may include sensitive financial information such as debt amounts, creditors, payment history, and repayment targets.
Debtera does not connect to your bank account and does not verify whether the information you enter is accurate. Debtera is a tracking and planning tool and does not provide financial, legal, tax, credit, insolvency, or debt advice.
12. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the effective date, posting a notice, or providing an in-app notice.
13. Data controller
Debtera is responsible for the processing of Personal Data as described in this policy. Business or legal details may be updated as Debtera's operating structure is finalized.
